While the northern part of the Lauteracher Ried, with its large tree population of birches and oaks, conveys an almost park-like character, the Ried opens up to the south to an extensive, woody moor landscape. Lauteracher Ried is one of the last places in Vorarlberg, where some meadowbirds like Abibe-comum, Maçarico-real and Narceja-comum are still breeding. Because of this, it's important to not enter the meadows and moorlands and stick to the roads. Other birds to observe are for example Cartaxo-nortenho and Codornizão. Sometimes there are also rarities spotted like Peneireiro-cinzento.
