Opis
The Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is a 103-acre conservation area in Baton Rouge. It features diverse habitats like upland hard woods to go with cypress and tupelo in the wet areas, connected by over a mile of gravel paths and boardwalks. Barred Owl and Prothonotary Warbler nest in the area. Standing dead wood provides home for Downy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker and Pileated Woodpecker.

The Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is located in Baton Rouge, off Oak Hills Parkway between Highland and Perkins Rd. Large parking area. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. Closed on Mondays and doesn't open until noon on Sunday. Otherwise 9:00 am to 5:00pm. Baton Rouge Audubon Society leads a public bird walk the first Saturday of the month year round. Starts at 7:00am. There is a small entry fee for the Park ($3, 2025).
