The "Chassagne d'Onnens" is a piece of Mediterranean landscape in Switzerland. It's one of the biggest dry mosaic of meadows and bushes of the region.

Opis

The landscape in itself is very special, at least in Switzerland. A mosaic of dry meadows, bushes and limestone slabs. Many thermophilic bird species, otherwise rare in the area, inhabit the spot: cierlik, dudek, krętogłów, gąsiorek, kląskawka, makolągwa, świergotek drzewny. The lerka has disappeard a few years ago.

The spot is also very interesting for plants with many orchids and other rare thermophilic species.

A bus stops in Onnens and there is a 10 minutes walk (1km) to reach the spot. Otherwise there is a small parking just at the spot (see the P on the map).
