During spring and autumn large amounts of sea fowl pass by Smygehuk, in spring, early April, the great migration ( the best days tens of thousands) of edredon and sometimes in the flocks turkan pass by. Other seabirds that can be seen in great numbers are markaczka, uhla, bernikla obrożna, loons and sometimes if one is lucky lodowiec and nur białodzioby.
In the area are also some small copses that can be rewarding to search for passerines and other migrating land birds.

The best circumstances to see the migrating birds is when it's medium strong S wind, which pushes the birds closer to the shore. This got the sideffect of that it soon becomes cold and its necessary to find shelter from the wind. In the E part of the harbour there are some fisher cabins and farther E behind the big warehouse are spots that might accommodate this.
