El Gerdar is a high‑mountain forest area in the Catalan Pyrenees, known for its ancient fir woods. The heart of the area is the mountain hut of Refugio del Gerdar. An ideal place to observe birds associated with fir forests, and a good place to look for dzięcioł czarny.

El Gerdar is located 15 minutes from the village of Esterri d'Àneu. You can park at the mountain hut of Refugio del Gerdar. Press P on the map for directions. The walking route shown on the map is about 1,5 km one way.
