Opis
The waterfront in the town of Alcochete is a nice place for watching small waders like sieweczka obrożna, piaskowiec and kamusznik. You can get relatively close to the birds because they have apparently become accustomed to people thanks to the walkers and the people that harvest shells. There are several places where you can leave the waterfront and then watch and photograph the birds at eye level, but note that the ground is very muddy. The best times to see the birds are on the rising and falling tide (see a link to the tides table below).

The town of Alcochete is located on the eastern banks of the Tagus estuary. You can park along Avenida Dom Manuel. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking you can explore the waterfront on foot.
