In summer, Frognerparken is a good spot for the resident, urban species, like pliszka siwa , zięba , szczygieł and kos (zwyczajny). In addition, the ponds will hold various ducks and maybe also kokoszka (zwyczajna), brodziec piskliwy and pliszka górska. łabędź niemy breeds here.
In winter, the ponds usually have open water, which is good for wintering ducks. krzyżówka are of course abundant, while gągoł and czernica are usual guests. cyraneczka and świstun also regularly winter here. Always check for rarer species, especially in late fall and early spring. czapla siwa is also a common sight. Gulls also frequent the park during the winter months, due to people feeding the ducks. Wintering śmieszka and mewa pospolita can be found, as well as rarer species. Both mewa blada and mewa polarna have been reported from the park, and one mewa delawarska was found here in the spring of 2001.
Follow Frognerelva south west to Skøyen and look for pluszcz during winter.

Frognerparken is easily accessible by bus, tram and subway. Majorstuen is the closest hub, a mere five minute walk away. If you exit to the south west towards Skøyen, you will find both train, tram and bus to take you back to Oslo. Driving is not recommended, as parking may be difficult and expensive.
