Opis

Old meanders of the river Roer between de the Dutch village of Vlodrop and the German village of Effeld. If you walk a little further than the fishing area you have a good chance of seeing nice bird species. It is a varied and quiet area. Here and there are higher poplars with where you can sometimes find wilga (zwyczajna). In addition, a beautiful view over the Roer to spot beavers and zimorodek. With a bit of luck you have a chance of seeing kania czarna and kania ruda.

Nederlands: Mooie oude meanders van de rivier de Roer op de grens van Nederland en Duitsland. Als je iets verder loopt dan het vissersgedeelte heb je een mooie kans op leuke vogelsoorten. Het is een mooi afwisselend en rustig gebiedje. Hier en daar staan hogere populieren met onder andere wilga (zwyczajna). Daarnaast een mooi uitzicht over de roer om bevers en zimorodek te spotten. Met wat geluk heb je kans op kania czarna en kania ruda.

These old meanders of the river Roer are located between de the Dutch village of Vlodrop and the German village of Effeld. The easiest way to park is along the Emsradeweg next to the bike shop (Daemen). Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. From here, walk towards Effeld and then turn right past the barrier.

Nederlands: Deze oude meanders van de rivier de Roer liggen tussen het Nederlandse dorp Vlodrop en het Duitse dorp Effeld. Parkeren kan het makkelijkst langs de Emsradeweg naast de fietsenzaak (Daemen). Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplek. Vanuit hier richting Effeld lopen en daarna rechts langs de slagboom.

The converted farm Gitstapper Hof near the village of Etsberg is an ideal place to spend the night near De Meinweg National Park. The farm used to supply the adjacent Gitstapper water mill with wheat for milling. The farm has recently been completely renovated and since this renovation it has been possible to spend the night at this authentic location. Gitstapper Hof is located close to the old water mill and two restaurants, but mainly in a wonderfully quiet area on the fields between the lake Effelderwaldsee and the adjacent forest.
