Recreation area Sandelingen - Ambacht offers a considerable diversity of nature. For bird watching there are actually only two places in the area that are interesting. That is a strip of forest with undergrowth against the A16. A nest box has also been placed here where pustułka (zwyczajna) raise their young almost every year. The other part is completely on the other side of the park where many ponds surrounded by reed beds where various reed birds are regularly found such as rokitniczka, podróżniczek, trzcinniczek (zwyczajny) and potrzos. The intermediate part consists of a swimming pool for both people and dogs and a lot of recreation, which makes this part less suitable for bird watching. A large part of the area can be used as an off-leash area for dogs, so it will never become a prime location while it does have the potential for it.

Nederlands: Recreatiegebied Sandelingen - Ambacht ligt aan de westkant van de gemeente H.I.A. gelegen tussen de A16 en het oude riviertje de Waal. Het park biedt een behoorlijke diversiteit aan natuur. Om vogels te kijken zijn eigenlijk maar twee stukken in het gebied interessant. Dat is een strook bos met onderbegroeiing tegen de A16 aan. Hier is ook een nestkast geplaatst waar vrijwel elk jaar torenvalken hun jongen grootbrengen. Het andere gedeelte ligt helemaal aan de andere kant van het park waar veel waterpartijen liggen omgeven met rietkragen en vlakten waar regelmatig verschillende rietvogels aangetroffen worden zoals rokitniczka, podróżniczek, trzcinniczek (zwyczajny) en potrzos. Het tussenstuk bestaat uit een zwemplas voor zowel mensen als honden en veel recreatie wat dit gedeelte minder geschikt maakt om vogels te spotten. Een groot gedeelte van het gebied mag gebruikt worden als losloop uitlaatgebied voor honden waardoor het nooit een toplocatie zal worden terwijl het wel de potentie er voor heeft.

From the A16 motorway, take exit 23 H.I.A. At the end of the exit turn left at the traffic lights towards H.I.A. At the next traffic lights turn left into Sandelingen Park Ambacht. You can park along the entire road on the left side. There is also a large parking lot at restaurant Happy Italy. If you are driving through Rijsoord, you can park in the parking lot of the Achterambacht cemetery and after a short walk you will arrive in the recreation park. Click on a P in the map for directions.
A cycle path runs through the entire recreation area, but of course it is better to see what you can use the footpaths that run through the woods, along the water features and reed beds.

Nederlands: Vanaf rijksweg A16 neem je afslag 23 H.I.A. Aan het einde van de afslag bij de stoplichten linksaf richting H.I.A. Bij de volgende stoplichten linksaf Sandelingen Park Ambacht in. Langs de gehele weg aan de linkse kant kunt u parkeren. Ook bij restaurant Happy Italie is een grote parkeerplaats. Komt u binnendoor over Rijsoord dan kunt u parkeren op de parkeerplaats van de begraafplaats Achterambacht en na een klein stukje lopen komt u zo in het recreatiepark. Klik op een P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving.
Er loopt een fietspad door het gehele recreatiegebied maar uiteraard kunt u beter om wat te zien de voetpaden gebruiken die door het bos, langs de waterpartijen en rietkragen lopen.

The nest box of pustułka (zwyczajna) is beautifully visible from parking spaces along the road in the park. When you find that the parents arrive with prey or that the youngsters are about to fly out, you can easily capture this in a photo from the car with a reasonable telephoto lens.

Nederlands: De nestkast van de torenvalken is vanaf parkeerplaatsen langs de weg in het park prachtig te zien. Wanneer u het treft dat de ouders met prooi aan komen vliegen ofdat de jongen op het punt staan uit te vliegen kunt u dat vanuit de auto met een redelijke telelens prima op de foto vast leggen.
