The Hempolder is a beautiful meadow bird polder. rycyk, czajka, krwawodziób, ostrygojad and Płaskonos are abundant here and sometimes batalion can be seen. cyraneczka and szablodziób are usually found on the south side, where a shallow water has been excavated. You can also see and hear świergotek łąkowy and skowronek. At the entrance of the polder, left past the work shed, there is a reed collar where rokitniczka, potrzos en trzcinniczek (zwyczajny) breed. błotniak stawowy is often seen flying above the reed collar on the south and east sides of the polder. gęgawa, bernikla białolica en bernikla kanadyjska are present around the Alkmaardermeer and also in the polder and breed in this area. pliszka żółta, pliszka siwa and rybitwa rzeczna are also seen. In winter, thousands of świstun come here, who rest on the lake and forage in the surrounding polders. Search fence posts for the presence of sokół wędrowny. kulik wielki and often hibernate in this place and there is a chance to see bąk. This polder is interesting for birdwatching all year round.

Bij de ingang van de polder, links voorbij de werkschuur is een rietkraag waar rokitniczka, potrzos en trzcinniczek (zwyczajny) broeden. błotniak stawowy zie je vaak boven de rietkraag aan de zuid- en oostzijde van de polder rondvliegen. gęgawa, bernikla białolica en bernikla kanadyjska zijn rond het Alkmaardermeer en ook in de polder aanwezig en broeden in dit gebied. pliszka żółta en pliszka siwa laten zich ook wel zien. Let op overvliegende rybitwa rzeczna. In de winter komen hier duizenden świstun, die op het meer rusten en in de omliggende polders foerageren. Zoek hekpalen af op aanwezigheid van sokół wędrowny. kulik wielki en siewka złota overwinteren vaak op deze plek en er is kans op bąk. Deze polder is het hele jaar door interessant om te vogelen. De polder is in beheer bij Landschap Noord Holland.

Drive east between Uitgeest and Akersloot in the hamlet of Klein Dorregeest and park at the P (see map). A walking/cycling path leads to the bird hide in the middle of the Hempolder. Please note: The Hempolder may not be entered during the breeding season. Walking is only allowed up to the bird hide, which is 700 meters past the parking spot. The bird hide is not wheelchair accessible.

Nederlands: Ga tussen Uitgeest en Akersloot in het buurtschap Klein Dorregeest naar het oosten. Bij de werkschuur van Landschap Noordholland voert een wandel/ fietspad naar de vogelkijkhut die midden in de Hempolder ligt. Let op: De Hempolder ligt tegen het Alkmaardermeer aan en mag in het broedseizoen niet worden betreden. Alleen tot aan de vogelkijkhut, die 700 meter voorbij de werkschuur van Landschap Noord Holland staat, is dit wel toegestaan. De vogelkijkhut is niet rolstoel toegankelijk.
