Beautiful fen that is part of a larger area with fens between Weert and Nederweert. Accessible from two sides with a beautiful viewpoint over the fen.

Opis

De Kwegt is a fairly quiet place that is already known by local bird watchers. Not very big and that means that you can oversee the area well. Especially in the spring it attracts special birds. Among the birds that have been seen here are warzęcha, bocian czarny, grubodziób, zimorodek and rybołów. But many more can be seen, see the birdlist below.

Nederlands: De Kwegt is een mooi ven dat onderdeel is van een groter gebied met vennen tussen Weert en Nederweert. Vanuit twee zijden benaderbaar met een mooi uitkijkpunt over het ven. Een vrij rustige plek die door de lokale vogelaars wel al wordt gevonden. Niet heel groot en dat maakt het overzichtelijk. Met name in het voorjaar en de zomer trekt het bijzondere vogels.

Accessible from two sides, with a parking space and viewing area on both sides. There is a circular walk (3,5 km) around the fen. From here, various routes also run along other fens such as the Banen and Sarsven.

Nederlands: Vanuit twee zijdes benaderbaar, met aan beide zijdes een parkeerplaats en uitkijkplek. Er loopt een rondwandeling (3,5 km) om het ven. Vanuit hier lopen verschillende routes ook langs andere vennen zoals de Banen en Sarsven.

Immersed in nature Vosseven is a perfect base for exploring the beautiful wetlands, fields and forests of this bird-rich nature park on the border of Belgium and The Netherlands. Especially since Kempen-Broek has been restored to it's former glory many rare birds can be observed. Quote from a birder that stayed recently in Vosseven Nature Park “We visited many of the bird areas in the Kempen-Broek that are described on Birdingplaces. Most of them we could easily reach on foot or by bike from Vosseven Nature Park, it's all quite close. Beautiful sites like Wijffelterbroek, Smeetshof, Kettingdijk, Tungelerwallen, Laurabossen and the outstanding De Luysen - Mariahof. We saw many special birds such as Golden Oriole, Great Bittern, Little Bittern, Kingfisher, Hobby, European Turtle Dove, Spoonbill and Red-backed Shrike and lots of other bird species.”
