A mosaic of water, reed, swamp groves and grasslands in the excavated peat. That is De Deelen, in the heart of the province of Friesland. In autumn and winter, thousands of ducks and geese, including świstun, gęś białoczelna, Płaskonos and bernikla białolica come to De Deelen. Rare species such as rybitwa czarna, czapla purpurowa and błotniak stawowy also live in the area. If you listen carefully, you may be able to hear the świerszczak singing in the spring. Other birds you can see here are gęgawa, warzęcha, podróżniczek, kulik wielki, krzyżówka, czernica, głowienka, perkoz dwuczuby, myszołów, bernikla kanadyjska, potrzos and rybitwa rzeczna.
Small parking lot available. It is a walking area with some marked paths, Unfortunately also sometimes used by dog walkers. Has a small bird observatory. From the parking to the birdhide is about 1 km.
