Opis
The forests of slopes in Gauja National Park with old deciduous trees attract less common species of woodpeckers (dzięcioł białogrzbiety, dzięcioł trójpalczasty, dzięcioł czarny and dzięcioł średni). Relatively often spotted are the elsewhere rare wójcik, muchołówka mała and locally common jarząbek. puszczyk uralski has started nesting in the park, and the smallest owl of Latvia — sóweczka — is also seen more often. Many derkacz and some species of warblers, which are not common in Western Europe (strumieniówka, zaroślówka), are found in the riverside meadows of Gauja.
