The Duino Cliffs are overlooking the sea and are bordered by a path. A beautiful, non-demanding walk of about one kilometer along the cliffs.

Opis

Le Falesie di Duino Nature Reserve includes high and steep limestone cliffs and the strip of sea in front of it. An area of 107 hectares. The cliffs are bordered by the beautiful Rilke path (a homage to the poet Rainer Maria Rilke). The path runs about one kilometer along the karst cliffs. More than 150 species have been observed in the reserve, most of them migratory, which stop in the reserve to rest and feed, while there are 45 regular or irregular breeding species. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are mewa romańska, kormoran czubaty, sokół wędrowny, jerzyk alpejski, jerzyk, sójka, edredon, gołąb miejski and modrak.

Italiano: La Riserva Naturale Le Falesie di Duino comprende alte e ripide falesie calcaree e la fascia di mare antistante. Un'area di 107 ettari. Le falesie sono costeggiate dal bellissimo sentiero Rilke (omaggio al poeta Rainer Maria Rilke). Il sentiero si snoda per circa un chilometro lungo le falesie carsiche. Nella riserva sono state osservate più di 150 specie, la maggior parte delle quali migratorie, che sostano nella riserva per riposare e nutrirsi, mentre sono presenti 45 specie nidificanti regolari o irregolari.

Le Falesie di Duino Nature Reserve is located along the Trieste coast, east of the village of Duino. You can park in the dedicated car park along the coastal road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The best way to explore the path is on foot.
