Opis
Alexandros Salt Pans are clearly no longer used for salt production. There are several small lagoons by the beach at the south side and the tarmac road follows the beach. A good dirt track continues along the embankment all the way, finishing as a dead end after 2.4 kilometres.
I visited the site in September during high tide (a dozen of both mewa czarnogłowa and rybitwa czubata, mewa romańska, rybitwa wielkodzioba, kormoran mały and kormoran, czapla nadobna, chwastówka zwyczajna), was somewhat surprised by the low number of birds, so I returned during low tide, only to find even fewer birds and not a single shorebird.
Local eBird hotspot also mention wierzbówka zwyczajna, jaskółka rudawa, pelikan kędzierzawy, flaming różowy, rybitwa białoczelna, jerzyk blady, sieweczka morska, kulik mniejszy, krwawodziób, and kwokacz.
