The Stoßdorfer See is a great spot to watch a larger number of mewa białogłowa on the small bird island in the middle of the lake. Beside this, you can also spot śmieszka, kormoran, hełmiatka, krzyżówka, krakwa, gęgawa, łabędź niemy, gęsiówka egipska, trzciniak, potrzos and more.

The next village is Stöbritz, which offers a direct road to the Stoßdorfer Lake. On the Western side of the lake, there are plenty of spots for fishermen where one can park a car. On the same road, you can walk along the side of the lake and have a few spots where you have a nice view on the lake as well as the bird island.

This lake is heavily used by fishermen which also causes a bit of trouble for the birds. While the birds - and their island - are theoretically protected, some fishermen don't care much, unfortunately. For example, they illegally cut down the only tree on the island where a small kormoran colony was breeding. Without much success, though, because the kormoran still breed on the tree stumps and on the ground now. So, while the fishermen throw tons of food into the lake for all the fishes to prosper, birds trying to take some are apparently a problem.
To sum it up: when encountering the lake with an obvious interest in birds, be prepared for some "comments" about birds and how they are a problem.
