Opis
This former military training area is now a nature reserve, due to the unusual habitats it provides. Sandweierer Dünen is one of the most important areas of sand-based habitats in the region. The highlight bird that can be seen here in spring is lerka. In early spring, their melodic song can be heard and with a bit of luck and patience you can observe them perched or in song-flight.
Other birds that can be seen here in spring (and into early summer) are kląskawka, gąsiorek, krętogłów, pliszka żółta and cierniówka. The reserve is much quieter in winter, but it is possible to see large flocks of feeding makolągwa, czeczotka brazowa and czyż. In winter the nearby gravel pit is worth scanning as it usually hosts a good number of waterbirds.
