Opis
Rappenwört is often referred to as an island, as it is almost completey surrounded by water: a meander cutoff where the Rhine used to flow and the current, straightened course of the river. In addition to interesting birding habitats, there is also an outdoor swimming pool, a nature information centre and various canoeing clubs and restaurants. On the various lakes, ponds and backwaters you can see łabędź niemy, krzyżówka, cyraneczka, łyska, perkoz dwuczuby, czapla siwa, czapla biała and kormoran.
The woodlands are also rich in birdlife, especially in spring and summer. A few of the highlight species include wilga (zwyczajna), muchołówka szara, dzięcioł zielonosiwy and dzięcioł średni. If the water levels of the pools are low enough to expose muddy fringes, then it is possible to see various resident and passage waders and ducks. brodziec piskliwy and samotnik and possibly batalion and cyranka.

The Rappenwört area is easy to access (except at times of extremely high river levels). There are various large car parks and parking bays and there is also a tram stop next to the swimming pool. The area is best explored on foot or by bike. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking. The circular route indicated on the map is about 5 km.
