Schwarzes Wasser is one of the oldest nature reserves in North Rhine-Westphalia and home to a rich songbird population. The small moor with a lake lies in the sand dunes of the Rhine. The water is fenced, so waterfowl will not be disturbed. Species-rich forest with heath and moorland. From the circular walking route (about 2 km) there are good observation opportunities. Schwarzes Wasser is located north of Wesel. The best place to start is the hiking parking lot at Am Schwarzen Wasser, 46499 Wesel. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. Without observing, you can easily walk around the area in 30 minutes but birdwatchers should allow a good two hours. There is a natural footpath, sometimes a bit sandy.
