Gundelfinger Moos is the remainder of a river valley moor in the Donauried. The area has moist forests, meadows and floodplains where you can find a large number of rare species of plants and birds. The core area of the moor consists of largely open wet meadows grazed with Exmoor ponies with a mosaic of peat cuttings. The edge areas of the moor, are used agriculturally as grassland. You can enjoy the birds from the paths and the observation tower. Among the birds you can see here are kszyk, batalion, kulik wielki, kwokacz, sieweczka rzeczna, kania ruda, skowronek, brzegówka, świerszczak, kląskawka, pokląskwa, trznadel, potrzos, gąsiorek and in winter srokosz.

B 16 between Günzburg and Gundelfingen, turn into Blumen-Eber and the 6-meter tall giraffes and park your car here. At the end of the rest area, walk right towards Gundelfinger Moos. You can make a 9 km circular walk along lake Schurrsee and over the Gundelfinger Moos, or you can just walk to the observation tower (1 km) and turn back.
