Opis
Stretching along the western slopes of the Odenwald mountain, the area between the villages of Dossenheim and Schriesheim not only offers great views over the Rhine valley, but is also a protected Natura 2000 site with a rich avivauna. On the lower reaches of the hills, a mosaic of vineyards, orchards, and meadows provides a habitat for many bird species, including gąsiorek, dzięcioł zielonosiwy, krętogłów, cierlik, and the rare głuszek. In the forested upper reaches, dzięcioł średni, dzięcioł czarny, and świstunka leśna can be found. Moreover, puchacz breed in the abandoned quarries nearby.
