In my opinion, Etang du Charnier is the best spot for modrzyk in the Camargue, one time I saw 16 of them. It is also a very nice spot for rybitwa białoczelna, rybitwa krótkodzioba and rybitwa rzeczna. With much luck, you can spot bączek. It is also a very good spot for czapla nadobna. In the whole area, you can see up to 100 on one day. The modrzyk likes small branches of reeds, but also sits in reeds or on muddy areas next to some reeds.

Etang du Charnier is located 30 km west of Arles and 50 km east of Montpellier. I would suggest to go by car, because the area is located on a busy road with cars going up to 100km/h. But there are also small parking gapes where you can watch the birds. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking spot.
