Opis
Luitemaa Nature Reserve is a wetland complex on the south-western coast of Estonia that consists of diverse coastal and inland habitats including shallow sea, capes and islands, coastal meadows and reed-beds. The coastal meadows near Võiste have shallow waters that attract large amounts of dabbling ducks (krakwa, krzyżówka, cyranka, świstun, cyraneczka and so on), ohar and swans. The wide coastal meadows and lagoons are favored by geese. Most common are gęgawa and bernikla białolica. Rarer gooses like gęś białoczelna, gęś krótkodzioba, bernikla kanadyjska, bernikla rdzawoszyja, bernikla obrożna, gęś tundrowa and ges zbozowa are often found during migration.
The sandbanks and lagoons are great spots for wading birds. Most common breeding birds are krwawodziób, sieweczka obrożna, ostrygojad, siewka złota, czajka, and batalion. During migration brodziec śniady, szablodziób, biegus zmienny, biegus malutki, biegus mały, biegus rdzawy, biegus krzywodzioby, kulik wielki and kulik mniejszy have been recorded.
