Opis
Borreby Mose is a large area with bog and reedbeds. Around the bog are extensive meadows used for grazing. Despite attempts to drain and cultivate, today the site is protected under Natura 2000 and serves as a vital refuge for birds. The reedbeds host breeding bąk, błotniak stawowy, wąsatka, rokitniczka, trzcinniczek (zwyczajny) and occasionally rarities like brzęczka and trzciniak. The wet meadows, shallow pools and muddy edges attract many waders and meadow-birds like rycyk, batalion, czajka, krwawodziób, ostrygojad, sieweczka obrożna, and szablodziób.
During migration thousands of geese roost in the area, joined by ducks like rożeniec, Płaskonos, cyraneczka and czernica. Winter brings bielaczek, gągoł, and błotniak zbożowy. A regular resident is bielik. Less common birds that visit Borreby Mose include rybitwa wielkodzioba and płatkonóg szydłodzioby. Every year rarities turn up in the area, especially during migration. For example biegus arktyczny and bocian czarny have been observed.
