Opis

Pompstation Meerbeek is pretty good for autumn migration watching because it is the hightest point (90m) in the area. Birds often fly lower because they have to cross the plateau. Birds that are often seen are skowronek, dymówka and kormoran. But rarer species have also been seen in the years, like świergotek polny, mornel and błotniak stepowy. The local birds include bażant, myszołów, trznadel, pustułka (zwyczajna) and kląskawka.

Nederlands: Pompstation Meerbeek is een goed observatiepunt voor herfsttrek in Dijleland, omdat dit het hoogste punt (90 meter) in het gebied is. Vogels vliegen vaak lager omdat ze het plateau moeten oversteken. Vogelssoorten die vaak worden gezien zijn skowronek, dymówka en kormoran. Maar er zijn in de loop der jaren ook zeldzamere soorten waargenomen, zoals świergotek polny, mornel en błotniak stepowy. Tot de lokale vogels behoren bażant, myszołów, trznadel, pustułka (zwyczajna) en kląskawka.

Pompstation Meerbeek is located between Brussels and Leuven, south of the village of Meerbeek. You can park next to the road, but the easiest and least disturbing way is to go by bike or on foot. Press P on the map for directions.

The location is not very good for spring migration because you don't have a good view. Another nuisance can be the noise of the highway closeby.
