A large pond, numerous ditches and scattered bushes attract many species of birds. A large number of ducks and other water birds overwinter in the area.

Opis

The Mechels Broek is a wet and open swamp that belongs to the former flooding area of the Dyle. The large sand extraction pit is an important resting and foraging area for many waterfowl. In Spring you can see birds like podróżniczek, rokitniczka and wodnik (zwyczajny). cyranka breeds here. In the Fall, rybołów and harriers come by. Winter is again ideal for seeing numerous duck species: krakwa , ohar , czernica, Płaskonos , świstun , cyraneczka. A nice area for walking and bird watching.

Nederlands: De grote vijver, talrijke sloten en verspreide struiken in het Mechels Broek trekken vele vogelsoorten aan. Een groot aantal eenden en andere watervogels overwinteren in het gebied. Het Mechels Broek is een nat en open moeras dat behoort tot het voormalige overstromingsgebied van de Dijle. De grote zandwinput is een belangrijk rust- en foerageergebied voor veel watervogels. In het voorjaar zie je vogels als podróżniczek, rokitniczka en wodnik (zwyczajny). cyranka broedt hier. In de herfst komen rybołów en kiekendieven langs. De winter is opnieuw ideaal om tal van eendensoorten te zien: krakwa, ohar, czernica, Płaskonos, świstun, cyraneczka. Een mooi gebied om te wandelen en vogels te kijken.

There is a little train station in the neighbourhood (Muizen) and there are a few parking lots near the visitor centre. A big parking lot is at De Nekker - Provincial Sports and Recreation Center.
