Opis
Over 240 bird species have been found at the Güssinger Fischteiche, making it one of the best places in southern Burgenland for birdwatching. The site is also easily accessible from the town and can be incorporated with a visit to the well-known castle nearby. Highlights include breeding głowienka and perkoz dwuczuby, a heron colony with czapla siwa and czapla biała and summer migrants including bączek and brzęczka. In spring the site attracts waders such as szczudłak as well as passage birds such as mewa mała and rybitwa czarna. The site also has some woodland, which contains dzięcioł czarny, grubodziób, dzięcioł zielonosiwy, and there is a chance of bielik.

You can park in the main town car parks and walk across the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 6 km. The paths in between the fishponds themselves are private, but birdwatchers are tolerated and local walkers often use these too. These paths offer the best views of the ponds.
