Opis
Since the construction of the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße (High Alpine Road) it became very easy to explore this mountain world with its fauna and flora in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park. On the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße you pass a great bird viewing point (see the map). During different times of the day we have seen at least 20 birds of prey here.
Most notable is the orzeł przedni. The approximately 40 breeding pairs of the High Tauern National Park are one of the biggest populations in Europe. The 162 currently known nesting sites are located at altitudes between 1,100 and 2,100 m. Among the other birds you can see here are sęp płowy, orłosęp, krogulec, pustułka (zwyczajna), kruk and wieszczek.
