Semi-natural ancient woodland in an urban setting.
Thorpe Wood is a beautiful ancient woodland full of wildflowers that consists of a canopy of oak and ash with hazel and field maple below. There are a number of very large mature oaks, which provide an excellent home for a range of birds. Among the birds you can see here are Spettmeis, Trekryper, Flaggspett and Grønnspett.
There is a small car park at the entrance. Click on the P in the map to get directions.
