Description

On the island of Tiree 133 bird species have been seen. The freshwater Loch a'Phuill attracts waders such as Sotsnipe, Boltit, Gluttsnipe and Strandsnipe. In the dunes there may be Lappspurv, Snøspurv, Åkerrikse, Jordugle or Gresshoppesanger. The cliffs at Ceann a Mhara are a useful seawatch point in autumn and have breeding Lomvi, Alke, Havhest, Krykkje, Toppskarv and perhaps Vandrefalk or Alpekråke.

Access

Tiree is reached by ferry from the mainland, or by air from Glasgow. The loch and cliffs are accessed from Barrapol or Balephuil in the island's SW corner.
