Ouse Washes forms the largest area of washland (grazing pasture that flood in winter) in the UK.
In winter there are thousands of ducks and Sangsvane at RSPB Ouse Washes. It's a magical spectacle. Vipe, Rødstilk and Enkeltbekkasin breed in spring and the area attracts good passage migrants in spring and autumn. Trane are often seen year round and gather from autumn in flocks of nearly 100 if you're lucky to see them. It's out the way so usually quiet with minimal disturbance. Other birds that can be observed are Sotsnipe, Myrsnipe, Heilo, Sivhauk, Svarthalespove, Knekkand and Dvergsvane and a great variety of ducks.
Arrive by car and there is a car park with toilets and visitor centre. Click on the P in the map for directions. 2 hides to the South, the first with disabled access, 3 hides to the North.
