Description
Convenient parking and access provided to the hill tops by gravel paths or even a ski lift (also in summer). It is possible to visit 3 Munroes from this area. Around the parking area Låvesvale and Taksvale are nesting.
The higher area is mostly heather and bracken, and stony scree at the tops. Lirype, Fjellrype, Boltit are hidden amongst the vegetation. Flocks of Heipiplerke are watched by Musvåk, Glente, Ravn and Tårnfalk. Heilo and Myrsnipe can be found in May and June.
The Old Military Road leading here has multiple lay-bys in which it is worth stopping for a quick scan of the hills with a scope.

Access
Glen Shee is a long Highland valley running through eastern Scotland, centred on the A93 between Blairgowrie (Perthshire) and Braemar (Aberdeenshire). Its upper end hosts the Glenshee Ski Centre, located above the Cairnwell Pass at the head of the glen. Best accessed by car (click P on the map for directions), but access by bus is also possible.
Plan at least half a day to explore and hike - there is little shelter so on hot days, best enjoyed in the morning and bring plenty of water. The route shown on the map is about 6 km one way.
