Large inner city park in Plymouth with multiple paths.
Surrounded by housing Plymouths largest park has open grassland, sports pitches and good wooded areas. It has multiple pathways giving you the choice to go off map route.
Central Park is on multiple bus routes, it has a very large and free car park on it's North West side. As you can imagine it has many entrances giving you the choice of start/finish place. It has a mature wooded valley that runs adjacent to Ford Park Cemetery (also good for birds), tree lined paths and large areas of open grassland used as sports pitches. As well as mature trees there has been extensive planting of young trees. The area also has a lot of hedges throughout. The proposed route on the map is 3,2 km.
NOTE. With a number of paths having been closed and heavy construction taken place to install two large ponds (see STARS on Map), the area is open as of January 2024, whilst the area is looking rather 'stark' initially, there is additional planting and sowing of grass/wildflower seed to take place in the early months of 2024, to further enhance this once regularly flooded area for birds and wildlife.
This park has the largest congregation of Halsbåndparakitt in South West England, the main night time roost is usually outside the park.
