Description
The nature reserve consists of a flood storage lagoon owned and operated by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and the Environment Agency. The lagoon is good in winter for common wildfowl, has a small breeding colony of Cettisanger, Isfugl and Vannrikse, and in summer holds most common visitors like Rørsanger and Sivsanger. Rarities have included Knekkand, Sivhauk and Rørdrum.

Access
Parking is on roads in local village. Public footpath takes you alongside the nature reserve (although access is by arrangement with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust beforehand). The footpath and surrounding farmland provides a pleasant setting.
