Description

There are many islands on the Lake Aktaş wetland. All of them are stiuated in Turkey. The lake is located at high elevation and it is a freswater lake. The landscape is beautiful with mountain grassland on this Caucasus hotspot. This lake was a breeding area of Sjøorre. Also, it is still an important breeding area for Krøllpelikan and Hvitpelikan in Turkey. You can see breeding colonies of Krøllpelikan and Hvitpelikan which have been restricted to several wetlands in Turkey. If you lucky, you can see Sjøorre in the lake which is accepted an ex-breeding area of the species. A new record of Sjøorre will be important in terms of conservation.
