Description

Storsund is a shallow lake and nature reserve surrounded by marshes and coniferous forests. The lake is a breeding place for Egretthegre and Gråhegre (Gotland's largest colony). Other breeding birds include Trane, Skjeand, Krikkand, Sivhauk, Lerkefalk and Vannrikse. In the summer many species of terns come to Storsund to fish.

Access

Storsund is located on the east coast of the island of Gotland. The best overview of the lake and its bird life is from the bird observation tower on the southwest shore. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking lot. From the parking there is a boardwalk leading to the bird observation tower.
