Skillingaryds Dämme was built as a water treatment plant. Measures taken in recent years have resulted in a new wetland and wet meadows. The new environment with shallow ponds and bushes attracts birds like Vannrikse, Sivhøne, Linerle, Dverglo, Sandsvale, Isfugl, Strandsnipe and Kvinand.
