Nature reserve on the edge of the Stockholm archipelago with wide beach meadows, islands and a large bird population.
Sandemars Naturreservat is a 390-hectare nature reserve with wide beach meadows. In the middle lies the castle Sandemar. A great point for watching birds is the observation tower near the coast. All year round, various bird species can be observed from this spot. For example Havørn, Siland, Kvinand, Rovterne, Sanglerke, Gulspurv, Sandlo, Gluttsnipe, Grønnstilk or Brushane. In winter Sangsvane, Havelle, Lappfiskand, Laksand and flocks of Toppand swim in the water between the islands of the archipelago.
Sandemars Naturreservat is located near Dalarö in the municipality Haninge Kommun, south of Stockholm. From the car park in the north, a path leads into the nature reserve to the observation tower. Click on the P in the map for directions to the car park. You can also explore the rest of the reserve on foot by several trails.
