Description

The Torre Vigía de Castilnovo is a medieval watchtower near the beach of Playa de Castilnovo. Two to three pairs of endangered Skallet Ibis return to the structure every spring to lay their eggs and raise their young. The surrounding beaches, shallow pools, salt marshes and mouth of the river Salado can also hold interesting birds like Stylteløper, Tundralo, Sandlo, Hvitbrystlo, Sandløper, Gluttsnipe, Middelhavsmåke and Splitterne. During migration the salt marshes are a good place to look for Triel.

Note that the amount of gulls, terns and waders depends not only on the seasons (the bird migration months are the best time to see the most species), but also on the crowds on the beaches. When it is busy on the beach, there are much fewer birds to be seen in the area.
