The Pajonales nature reserve is home to the endangered Gran Canaria Blåfink.
This Gran Canaria pine forest is one of two localities where the endemic Gran Canaria Blåfink can still be found and even here they are scarce. Canary Island endemic subspecies from other species can also be found here like: Svarttrost, Bokfink, Rødstrupe, Kalottmeis and Flaggspett. This area can be explored from numerous walking trails and be prepared for birds being high up in the pines.
Pajonales nature reserve is located along the road. By car follow GC-60 from Maspalomas up into the mountains then turn and take GC-600 and stop among any of the parking spots. Click on a P in the map for directions. At Bailico, located in the middle of the forest, there is a camping spot.
