Description

Estepas Cerealistas Del Rio Jarama Y Henares is located northwest of Madrid between the Jarama and Henares rivers and crossed by the Torote river. The area is very large and includes several municipalities. The landscape is made up of large dry land crops on gently undulating terrain. Sporadically you find fields with olive trees, scrubland with oaks and along the rivers the riverside forest. Characteristic birds of the area are Rødhøne, Kalanderlerke, Kornspurv, Stortrappe, Dvergtrappe, Munkegribb, Gåsegribb, Iberiaørn, Myrhauk, Glente, Svartglente and other birds of prey. The wetlands associated with the Torote River and isolated ponds host some wintering birds.

Delimitada por los cauces de los rios Jarama y Henares y atravesada por el rio Torote. Area que comprende varios municipios. El paisage lo forman grandes cultivos de secano en un terreno de leves ondulaciones. Esporadicamente encontamos campos de olivos, monte bajo con encinas y en los rios caracteristico bosque de rivera. En la zona podemos encontrar aves caracteristicas de las zonas espeparias: avutardas, sison, perdiz. Es habitual ver milanos. En los humedales asociados al rio Torote acojen a algunas especies de invernantes.

The area is extensive and includes several municipalities: Aljalvir, Alcala, Algete, Cobeña, Fuente el Saz, Valdetorres del Jarama, Daganzo Arriba, Serracines, Fresno de Torote, Valdetorres, Valdeavero. It is recommended to go to any of these towns and explore their paths on foot or by bicycle. On the map you see a suggestion for a 20 km circular route near the villages of Algete and Cobeña. The route also passes Dehesa de Cobeña with three small lakes, where you can spot some waterbirds. But as already stated, there are many other routes possible.
