Description
Circo de Fuente Dé is located in the Massif Central de los Picos de Europa (Massif de los Urrieles), which brings together many of the highest peaks of the Cantabrian Mountains. Its relief is mainly due to the intense glacial activity of the Quaternary. This is the ideal habitat for specialized high-mountain bird species such as Alpekaie, Murkryper, Fjellspurv or Alpejernspurv. Furthermore, this is a place frequented by Lammegribb from the project to reintroduce the species in the Picos. In addition to the birdlife, the place has a high botanical, geological interest and for other fauna groups. The starting point is the upper station of the cable car (1850 m), from where you can explore the area.

Espagnol: Espectacular entorno de alta montaña. Probablemente el lugar más fácilmente accesible para observar aves alpinas en la Cordillera Cantábrica. El complejo glaciar de Fuente Dé se encuentra en el Macizo Central de los Picos de Europa (Macizo de los Urrieles), que reune muchas de las cumbres más altas de la Cordillera Cantábrica. Su relieve se debe principalmente a la intensa actividad glaciar del Cuaternario. Este es el hábitat ideal para especies de aves especializadas en la alta montaña, como Alpekaie, Murkryper, Fjellspurv o Alpejernspurv. Además, este es un lugar frecuentado por Lammegribb procedentes del proyecto de reintroducción de la especie en Picos. Además de la avifauna el lugar tiene un alto interés botánico, geológico y para otros grupos faunísticos. El punto de partida es la estación superior del teleférico (1850 msnm), desde donde se puede explorar la zona.

Access
From the surroundings of the Fuente Dé Tourism Parador (Municipality of Camaleño), where the lower station of the cable car is located, you can access the area. At this point there are parking lots. In less than 5 minutes the cable car bridges a hight difference of about 750 meters. On the map below you see an example of a walk of about 5 km. But thera are many more walks to choose from.

Espagnol: El acceso se realiza desde el entorno del Parador de turismo de Fuente Dé (Municipio de Camaleño), donde se encuentra la estación inferior del teleférico que en menos de 5 minutos salva un desnivel de unos 750 metros. En este punto hay aparcamientos. En el mapa de abajo puede ver un ejemplo de una caminata de unos 5 km. Pero hay muchos más paseos para elegir.

This place is located within the Picos de Europa National Park, it is important to follow the regulations of the Park to contribute to its conservation. Despite how easy it is to access, it must be remembered that you are in a high mountain environment, with all that this entails. To observe the species of greatest interest, it is usually enough to take a walk along the marked trails, for example around the Lloroza Lakes. There are many options for routes to take in the area: Peña Vieja, Torre de los Horcados Rojos, Puertos de Áliva, Canal de la Jenduda, Vega de Liordes, etc. It is important to find out about the characteristics of each route and assess our capabilities before starting them. In the meadows and forests that surround the lower station of the cable car you can find other species, both forest and open.

A pesar de lo sencillo que es su acceso hay que recordar que nos encontramos en un entorno de alta montaña, con todo lo que ello conlleva. Para la observación de las especies de mayor interés suele ser suficiente dar un paseo por los senderos señalizados, por ejemplo por el entorno de los Lagos de Lloroza. Existen muchas opciones de rutas a realizar en la zona: Peña Vieja, Torre de los Horcados Rojos, Puertos de Áliva, Canal de la Jenduda, Vega de Liordes, etc. Es importante informarse de las características de cada ruta y valorar nuestras capacidades antes de comenzarlas. En las praderas y bosques que rodean la estación inferior del teleférico podemos encontrar otras especies, tanto forestales como de medios abiertos.
