Coastal mountains near the city of Cartagena. With cliffs, small bays and a small patch of very rare Mediterranean juniper forest.
This circular hiking route of 6 km through the Cabezo de Roldán heads to the viewpoint of El Mirador de Roldán. This natural area around Mount Roldán has coastal mountains and a small patch of very rare Mediterranean juniper forest. Among the birds you can encounter here are Hubro, Vandrefalk, Dompap, Klippesvale, Svartsteinskvett, Blåtrost and Krattopplerke.
The coastal mountain range of Cabezo de Roldán is located directly west of the city of Cartagena on the Mediterranean Sea. You can park at Parking Subida ROLDÁN on the outskirts of Tentegorra. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates to the parking.
The circular route begins at the parking and goes along the GR®92 trail to Collado de Roldán. From here, you must continue to the left to begin the ascent towards Mount Roldán and then enter La Batería de Roldán (a Spanish anti-aircraft artillery protection fortification), a slightly more technical area where you have to climb some rocks.
