A large lake with salt water, close to the Black Sea coast.
Because of its position on one of the most important migration routes, the Via Pontica, the Lake Techirghiol area has a big diversity of species. More than 200 species of birds have been recorded, wich represents at least 60% of the species present in Romania.
On the lake, the winter of 2022-2023 sheltered a family of Flamingo. Other interesting species to be seen: Jordugle, Rustsnipe, Sandlo, Hvitpelikan, Sivhauk, Dvergskarv, Avosett, Storspove, Gravand and more.
To reach Lake Techirghiol there are multiple ways. The most convenient are two routes: from Techirghiol village or through Eforie Sud. The area is accessible by car, but a bike ride is proper also. Too long distance for a walk. The circular route around the lake is 20 km. Click on a P in the map for directions.
