Description
Lagoa dos Patos is actually a reservoir. It has the highest concentrations of ducks in the Lower Alentejo. But it's not only ducks, you can also see many herons, waders and birds like Flamingo, Brakksvale, Hvitkinnsvartterne, Sandterne, Bronseibis, Stylteløper and Skjestork. The shore of the lagoon does not have much vegetation which makes it difficult to approach birds. So a telescope can be very useful. The surrounding green patches, olive groves and fields are home to birds like Rødhøne, Kirkeugle, Svartvingeglente, Hærfugl, Bieter, Krattvarsler, Blåskjære, Svarthodesanger, Topplerke, Gulkronebisp, Vatreastrild and Kornspurv.
