Less than 15 km from the center of Warsaw Raszyńskie Ponds Nature Reserve offers great birding.
Rezerwat Przyrody Stawy Raszyńskie is an ornithological reserve constituting a rich ecosystem for waterfowl and marsh birds. It consists of several ponds with their surroundings: tall trees, shrubs, reed beds. A refuge for about 100 species of birds. Noteworthy is the occurrence of 4 breeding species of grebes: Dvergdykker, Toppdykker, Svarthalsdykker and Gråstrupedykker. There is a large colony of the gulls (right next to the busy Aleja Krakowska on the Puchalski Pond) and a breeding colony of Gråhegre and Storskarv on the tree-lined island on the Falencki Pond. Other birds you can see are Fiskeørn, Havørn, Sivhauk, Svartspett, Kvinand, Laksand, Rørdrum, Dvergrørdrum, Trostesanger, Sivsanger, Sivspurv and Isfugl.
Raszyńskie Ponds are located between Raszyn and Janki, on both sides of Al. Krakowska (national road number 8 to Katowice). Access from Warsaw is possible by public transport. Suburban lines (2 zone) run here: 703, 706, 707, 721, 728 (stops IMUZ 01 or Puchały 02). There are several options for parking. Click on a P in the map to go to the parking of your choice.
You can explore the Raszyńskie Ponds on foot. A hiking trail has been designated in the area of the ponds, which includes three observation towers located at the ponds: Falencki, Raszyński and Parkowy Górny.
