A roundup of alpine species without sacrificing the comforts of a flat path. For the ones who wants to discover the birds of the alps without any compromise.
In Val Floriana you can enjoy a pure alpine birdwatching experience practically without any difficulty. Paths with a slight difference in height will take you on a tour at high altitude through meadows, pastures and forests of larch and spruce. Here the area is dominated by the presence of large grouse, glacial relics that have remained on the Alps since the time of the last glaciation. When you visit the area in the right period you will be able to spot both Orrfugl and Storfugl and if you are trained enough to conquer the nearby peaks, with a bit of luck (it's definitely important while birdwatching) you will be able to spot even Fjellrype. The woods are rich in old trees and are pretty important for four interesting species, two woodpeckers and two owls: Tretåspett, Svartspett and Perleugle, Spurveugle. Sometimes even the Kongeørn is present as a vagrant.
You can either park to Malga Vernera or Malga Sass. Be careful when driving hence both of the roads are narrow and not really suitable for big cars.
