Lake and natural area of 35,4 hectares bordering the Dora Baltea river. The lake is totally frozen from December to March.
Reserva Natural des Iles is located in an area formerly occupied by a meander of the Dora Baltea. It is characterized by the presence of two quarry lakes with largely renaturalized banks. The southern area of the reserve is accessible. This makes it easy to observe water birds that are unusual in the region. The river offers an interesting refuge in winter. Among the birds you can see in the area are Dvergrørdrum, Fossekall, Vendehals, Bieter, Dvergdykker, Isfugl and Purpurhegre.

Either park in the west of the area, near the small road bridge, or access it by bike from the city center of Aosta, by the cycle path (about 5km). From Aosta, take the national road 26 in the direction of Turin and turn right on the Brissogne bridge. Continue walking along the track that flanks the Dora Baltea River until you reach the entrance of the reserve, indicated by a sign.
