Description
Lake Almyros is one of the most important wetlands of western Crete. In the lake you can find many aquatic birds. The lake is not only worth a visit for waterfowl. In Georgioupoulis I found the largest Låvesvale roost I have seen so far! Among the other birds you can encounter are Gluttsnipe, Grønnstilk, Enkeltbekkasin, Strandsnipe, Skogsnipe, Isfugl, Alpeseiler, Silkehegre, Gulbeinmåke, Stillits, Romerspurv and Cettisanger.
