Description

Wiesen am Hirtenborn is a nature reserve with damp grassland surrounded by mixed woodlands. Easy walking and access. Parking available. Five species of woodpeckers (including Svartspett, Mellomspett and Dvergspett), raptors like Hønsehauk, and the usual woodland birds. In summer as many as 5 Tornskate territories and dozens of Sanglerke. Tornsanger and Toppmeis are also common. The area is protected because of the wildflowers. Mammals, including Wildcat, are frequently seen.

Access

From Rheinboellen, take the road to Bacharach, then turn right at the turning for Manubach/Oberdiebach. The Nature Reserve is at the end of the woods on the right hand side after about 1 km. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking. The indicated circular walk on the map is about 6 km long and starts from this parking.
